Mini-bio for Bill Faris William Faris visited the Independent University of Moscow as a Fulbright Lecturer during 1995-1996. Since then he has returned to Moscow about twice each year. His ongoing collaboration with Russian mathematicians deals with how to do probability calculations with an arbitrarily large number of interacting variables. (Thus, for example, the gas molecules in a box could move randomly, but with a force acting between each pair of molecules.) He keeps a bicycle and cross-country skis in Moscow, for use according to season.
